Most of us know what it’s like to be out of balance.
We feel vulnerable because we might fall over – in whatever way that might manifest in the circumstances.
And our sense of control or personal agency is diminished.
Therefore, our automatic reaction is to do whatever it takes to restore our balance because we currently feel unsafe.
Yet, as I think about the ideal of balance, I realise that it is a static concept, much more like a machine than a living system.
Because if it’s a goal or an end state, what happens after that, when we achieve balance?
And does losing it again mean we’ve failed?
Just wondering.
