Unexpected fruit

Sometimes
the fruit we seek
is not the
fruit for us.

We just think
it is because
it’s shiny
and attractive.

But it’s in
the wrong place.

Yesterday morning I spied gorgeous red berries on a holly bush.

I was delighted because the hollies in the valley rarely fruit.

Yet something wasn’t quite right. This isn’t the time for holly berries.

On closer inspection, the rowan trees were generously distributing their clusters of bright red fruit to whoever would receive them.
