Yesterday, these two – Rhoslyn and her daughter Tabitha – looked like Perl on the right.
No longer.
They’ve had their annual trip to the hairdressers…
We’re partway through shearing our 36 alpacas, and it never ceases to amaze me how different they are.
As we began 15 years ago with a small starter herd and have bred our own stud males, every alpaca in the valley is related to at least several others.
Yet everything about them is distinctive.
So we get to experience that up close and personal as we ‘treat’ them to these yearly visits to our ‘salon’.
And the bigger question is, why would we think this unusual in the more-than-human world?
Pause. See differently. Re-story 🌿
