Spending more time in the conversation between John O’Donohue and Krista Tippett, I encountered this gem about one of the other themes in John’s work, that of thresholds.
“… I think when we cross a new threshold, that if we cross worthily, what we do is we heal the patterns of repetition that were in us that had us caught somewhere. And in our crossing, then, we cross onto new ground where we just don’t repeat what we’ve been through in the last place we were.”
John O’Donohue, The Inner Landscape of Beauty ~ On Being Podcast
This is such a beautiful insight.
I have been fascinated and challenged by thresholds for years.
And I know what it feels like to think you’ve decided to cross, only to find yourself going round in circles again.
Opening ourselves to healing what underlies the patterns starts with naming them and letting them go.
Because this is new ground and we can become free.
