It’s time to let things go

What does it mean to let things go? To stop holding on tightly to ideas, identities, relationships, responsibilities and possessions, so that they can fall away?

Sometimes we don’t realise we are carrying that much until we cease to see what is real and only feel the weight of it all.

And some things are only for a season. It’s time to let them go, because someone else might need them now.

While others are stopping us flourishing. It’s time to let them go too, even if that means feeling exposed, because that’s when we are free to grow.

Some things are for now but don’t hold them too tightly, or they will wither. They are not the you-ness of you, merely the gift for today.

And now, I wonder, what priceless treasures are you left holding in your open hands?
