Grace makes beauty out of ugly things

‘Grace makes beauty out of ugly things’

We are drawn to beauty.

But sometimes what appears beautiful turns out to be only surface deep. A superficial arrangement that appeals to other motivations.

So let’s dig deeper.

Here is a further extract from the U2 song, Grace, shared with me by a friend recently:

She carries a pearl
In perfect condition
What once was hurt
What once was friction
What left a mark
No longer stings
Because Grace makes beauty
Out of ugly things
Grace finds beauty
In everything
Grace finds goodness
In everything.

What part of our work and lives needs to be seen with a grace-full eye? The things we see as ugly and ill-formed, which we long to be beautiful?

Because we have a choice. We can hide them away or we can be honest and let grace do its work.

I wonder, what is the question that you want to ask yourself?
