Finding hope in the cycles of life

Each year, I experience a thrill at the emergence of the crocus. Their appearance heralds the approach of spring and new life.

Yet these first buds in the valley are tiny, and I wouldn’t have noticed them if Steve had not discovered them first.

Aren’t they beautifully formed, exquisite in detail and such a gorgeous colour?

Sheer delight in the fragile expression of life on a day that also saw our goodbyes to the grand matriarch of our female alpacas.

Millie was a well-known and distinctive character. She stamped her personality on our herd the day she arrived with her young daughter, Alys, in tow. Fifteen years ago.

But yesterday was her time to leave us. And we needed to let her go.

Beginnings and endings, we can’t have one without the other.

This is wild hope threaded through the cycles of life.

Pause. See differently. Re-story 🌿

~ Listeners to Steve’s Alpaca Tribe podcast will be familiar with Millie. The stories involving her were never dull!
