Finding beauty in the darkness

Wandering up the green path yesterday evening wasn’t scary.  I know the track well. It is familiar ground.

Yet the darkness revealed the unfamiliar and reminded me that we can embrace those places we sometimes find ourselves in without fear.

Seeing in the dark is a rare gift.
What we find is precious,
drawing out colours and contours
often obscured in daylight.
We are not alone. We are seen
and beauty is revealed.

It also echoed one of the songs of David I have been reading recently: ‘Darkness is not dark to you…’ from Psalm 139.
