And the answer is…?

We’ve grown up in a world that says if you get the answer right you get a prize. So if we don’t find the answer we’re obviously not trying hard enough. Or we’re not smart enough. Or we don’t know the system (or the powerful people) well enough.

The problem is that whilst some questions do have a simple answer, actually many don’t. And in a world that is increasingly complex and interconnected, the likelihood that there is a single right answer is diminishing rapidly.

However, it feels really uncomfortable when the response is “it depends…“.

So how do we get our mental and emotional muscles ready for the different kind of work that explores this fuzzy territory? And come up with far better answers to the issues we face…

Don’t get stuck in the simple box. Certainty isn’t always wisdom.
